Page Springs

This is a hidden gem. Many people live their entire lives in Arizona and don’t know about it.

Directions: Take I-17 north, get off at Exit 293 just north of the casino and take Cornville Road (3) west. Follow the signs to Page Springs turning north on Page Springs Road as you get into “town”. The road is curvy so take it easy.

Eating: Just north of the wineries is an excellent restaurant called “Up the Creek”. You can taste or buy many Arizona wines here. Be sure to look for the hummingbirds. Back in Cornville, there are a surprising number of good restaurants including: Manzanita for German and other fare, and The Grasshopper Grill.

Wineries. There are three that are easily accessible but only two are worthwhile. Page Springs is the nicest and has the best setting and serves the best food. There can be a wait. If you have to wait, you can order a bottle of wine and play stand-up chess, or corn hole, or bocce balls. After a flight (reds recommended), order a bottle and a charcuterie board and take it down to the overlook by the creek. Javelina Leap is a little north of Page Springs and on the other side of the road. They have some really good wines. Try a flight of reds, then consider joining their excellent wine club.
